The NPD Group today released the Nexus 4 Silicone Case end results with the Apple Ecosystem Study, which polled higher than 3,000 people from the U.S. during February. Among its main findings was that one in four iPad owners stated it was their first Apple device.
"Historically, the iPod has nexus 4 case bumper become the introductory Apple device for consumers, with 82 percent of owners saying finally it was their first Apple product," NPD said at the release. "This, however, has been evolving as first-time Apple buyers gravitate toward other products."
That "introductory Apple device" reference was in the past dubbed "the halo effect," a condition familiar with refer to a bump in sales of Apple's other products -- though mainly Macs -- when buyers would pick up an example of Apple's iPods.
Since the iPhone and iPad, however, iPod sales have been on a decline, with buyers picking more phones ortablets. The iPad has done overturn found in a halo effect, and led to cannibalization of a Mac, which Apple has countered by praoclaiming that those iPad sales should have gone to PCs instead.
"While over 70 percent of long-standing Apple owners began their relationship utilizing the brand via the iPod, the dpi declines they only have to 57 percent with those entering the Apple franchise up until recently 2," NPD said. "Newcomers in the brand increasingly use the iPhone or iPad as his or her first Apple device, which combined are the reason for one-third of first-time Apple cute Nexus 4 case purchases since 2010."
Other findings from the study echo those along with a CNBC study posted last month with a lots of Apple products throughout U.S. households. As an example, NPD testified that a family group with Apple products tends to own 2.4 Apple devices generally. But that 58 percent of homes which happen to have a Mac also have a PC.
